It's summer here in NZ and while there are many other places in the world where it gets hotter than here, we are melting. After a heatwave that last almost a week, we were nearly puddles on the floor. It reached a high of 27degrees Celcius, and here in NZ, that is HOT!
A great way to cope with the heat was fans, spread out on the couch with the doors and windows open and drinking copious amounts of cold water (or in my case, Peach Ice Tea).
I thought I'd share a cute craft that I found on the wonderful site that is Pinterest. It's a serving tray, painted like a watermelon. Now you can serve up those ice cold drinks to your friends, in style.
I hope you enjoy it and I'll see you in my next post!
WATERMELON SERVING TRAY
Materials:
large wooden cirlcle
craft paints - green, pink and black
shellac
paint brushes
2 handles
electric drill
Step One: Paint the entire top of the wooden circle pink.
Step Two: Paint a green edge on the wooden circle, about 3/4" wide.
Step Three: Use a small paint brush to make black "seeds" in the centre of the wooden circle, on the pink paint.
Step Four: Once the paint is fully dried, give the wooden circle a wipe to get rid of any dust or dirt. Give it a coating of shellac to seal and protect your design
Step Five: Secure two hands onto your wooden board, using an electric drill.
Enjoy serving all your friends! You can also use it any other time of the year, as a dinner tray.
