My main writing domain has always been Microsoft Office Word. Until a few years ago, I'd never thought of putting my work up online. I came across a website (which is sadly no longer available) called Quizilla. It was a space for teenagers to create quizzes, polls, share poems, stories and more. I started sharing stories on there. One day someone commented on a story I was following, and mentioned a website called Wattpad. Curious, I searched up the website and signed up. I started reading stories other people had written, started following people and got very excited about this new community.

I started posting stories of my own, as well as a few poems. The 'reads' on my work started to go up a bit and soon there were even a few comments.

There was a tab called 'Community' where you can join forums, where people talk about writing, giving their advice, asking for advice, and there was even a forum category where you can request a book cover or start a sort of 'business' and create book covers for other people.

I signed up for it and started making a few covers for people. Some people used them and some didn't, but it was still great fun!

I even put out requests for people to make a book cover for me. The important things were to give the book title, author name, genre of your story and a brief description of what your story was about. Some people also include what kind of idea they have for their cover. Some people are so incredible on there! I found a couple of apps on my iPad to make my life a bit easier in creating the perfect covers. My cover making technique basically consisted of finding a nice picture on Google Images, positioning the book title nicely and making sure the font worked with the theme, including the author name and sending the cover off to the requestee. Or keeping the book cover for myself.

Below is a gallery of some of the book covers I've made for myself. It's been great fun joing a community like Wattpad. Everyone there is so encouraging, and quite a few people have seen themselves getting published - all starting with writing a story on a website.
